Record at the DE-CIX: 2 terabits per second


The German internet exchange DE-CIX in Frankfurt transported to the tips now more than 2 terabits per second (Tbit / s). At the beginning of 2009, the traffic at DE-CIX in the tips, only half of this value. On average it took that 600 Gb / s, which ran across the Internet nodes. Today, the DE-CIX transported an average of about 1200 Gb / s

According to DE-CIX CEO Harald A. Summa mark the 2 Tbit / s while a new peak, the traffic will however continue to grow: "We believe that the Internet traffic will continue to grow by about 80 percent per year. "Technically, the DE-CIX can currently cope with a maximum of 40 Tbit / s. In addition, the star-designed infrastructure with 12 data centers in Frankfurt area was distributed in the center working a to redundant core switch cluster that uses his hand for another 14 switches connected to the ISP.
