Next setback for Samsung in patent dispute with Apple

The electronics manufacturer Samsung has in its bitter patent dispute with Apple once again suffered a setback in the U.S.. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission ITC rejected in a preliminary ruling from a Samsung lawsuit against Apple. In all these four Samsung patents was no violation has been established, the competent ITC judge said Friday. His decision will still be reviewed by the full six-member commission.

In the complaint against Apple's iPhones and iPad tablets are discussed included techniques for fast UMTS data radio. The ITC (International Trade Commission) for patent infringement may prohibit the import of devices in the United States. Since virtually all electronic devices are now manufactured in Asia, that would be extremely painful for all manufacturers. Apple has in turn also run an ITC patent lawsuit against Samsung.

A few weeks ago, Apple had the South Korean competitors inflicted a heavy defeat in the U.S. process. A California jury-court found the violation of several Apple patents by Samsung, and said the iPhone maker $ 1.05 billion (800 million euros) for damages. Samsung seeks to overturn this decision before it is confirmed by the competent judge.
