Apple makes music network Ping sealed

Apple is a good two years to be unsuccessful music network Ping. "Ping is after September 30, no longer available," Apple announced on the network. As of now, no new users can sign up for more ping.

With Ping, it was possible since September 2010, on PC and Mac with iTunes as well as on iOS devices with friends about songs, albums and musicians to share and "follow" artists in Twitter and Facebook-style. The offer, however, could never really push through and has been slow to develop.

Ping was one of the problems of, for example, lack of integration with other social networks. Originally Ping should get a facebook link, but was cut off in 2010 just before the start. Facebook has placed unacceptable conditions, Apple founder Steve Jobs said at the time the Wall Street Journal blog All Things D without giving details. In the first two days after the launch of Ping themselves known to one million users, but the interest dropped off quickly.

The new Apple CEO Tim Cook pointed to the end of Ping in May. The user would have made it clear that they do not want to invest a lot of energy in Ping. "Are we going to adjust it? I do not know. I'll think about it," Cook had said. Apple should not have their own online network to be active in social networks. Among other things, the relationship with Facebook has now improved considerably.

Apple alleged that on an ad-supported web radio service works, it was at the launch of iPhone 5, new iPods, new iTunes iOS6 and not once mentioned. Prior to the Apple event, it had already been called, Apple working on a service where a complimentary customized to the musical tastes of the user program is being played. So Apple would expand its successful music service for streaming capabilities to successfully confront streaming services.
