Current figures for camera market: Cheap Compact pressurized

Photographic Industry Association and the Association for Consumer Research (GfK) have issued updated information on the global market and the German camera.

In this country, in 2011 approximately 8.6 million cameras were sold, of which a little less than 7.5 million units compact digital cameras. Thus, the compact still have a market share of just over 85 percent. For this year, the Photographic Industry Association and GfK expect here but to fall to 6.73 million deposited compact cameras. Particularly hard hit the Billigheimer segment of compacts. Here the smartphone competition has simply become too powerful - according to current models like the Nokia Pure View 808th

That will break a hole in the entire camera market. Overall, according to the forecasts in 2012, only about 7.9 million cameras sold. Here, the value remains relatively stable (2011: 1,726 million euros in 2012: 1,720 million euros).

Taken as in past years, the cameras with interchangeable lenses - so SLRs and mirrorless system cameras. Overall, in Germany in 2011 1.1 million units sold this year Association and GfK expect a sales of 1.16 million. The classic SLRs had it in 2011, a share of 970,000 units in 2012 and are predicted to come to 980,000. The mirror-less system cameras but with more force pushing forward. 130,000 items to be moved in 2011 on the counters, and this year it could be 180,000 copies of NEX, NX, Pen and Co.. Their share of total camera market is still very small, relative to the numbers at about two percent.

GfK and the Photographic Industry Association forecast for cameras with interchangeable lenses, however, a steady increase in average prices. In the past twelve months, the price climbed to an SLR from 633 euros to 700 euros and for a mirrorless system camera from 470 euros to 530 euros. The value added by these cameras was in 2011 at 674 million euros and is expected to increase in 2012 to 720 million euros.

Anyway: Some 30,000 analog cameras found in 2011 one owner, this year there will be only about 10,000.

However, there was significant growth in the lenses - driven by the demand for single-lens reflex cameras and system. In 2011 about 1.6 million lenses were brought to the photographer. It should be 1.7 million in 2012. Also tripod manufacturers have reason to celebrate: They will sell in 2012, about 20,000 camera supports more than in 2011 (800,000).

However, there is a decline in camera bags and flash units. Also for the digital picture frame since the very high in 2009, with 1.7 million units sold downhill. In 2012, probably less than a million framework will find an owner. The culprit is the strong competition of the tablets on which looked not only photos but also can be edited.

Photo books enjoy lasting popularity: 6.4 million units, the Germans placed orders in 2011. This year it will be even more diligent and ordered 6.7 million.

If you have even greater number hungry, then there is in the current brochure (pdf) of GfK and the Photographic Industry Association further fodder.
