3-Stream Wireless for Business

As of now, two new Wi-Fi access points, called L-and L-451agn 452agn of Lancom Systems will be in stores. Both have received an accelerated hardware base: Compared to the previous L-series 32x the embedded processor clocked at 800 MHz is now twice as fast. Of 641 euros (RRP) savoring L-451 comes with a 3-stream radio module with IEEE 802.11n with up to 450 MBit / s in the 2.4 - working or 5-GHz band. The 891-euro sister model includes two modules that can spark on both bands; usefully one chooses but mostly parallel operation at 2.4 and 5 GHz. Fortunately, the developers keep the power consumption is so low that even the dual module AP via PoE (Power over Ethernet IEEE 802.3af, up to 13 watts) to power via the LAN cable is supplied; compatible 802.3at for PoE plus powerful (IEEE, max. 25 W), the device nonetheless.

As a special new feature dominates the L-452 tape Steering: It recognizes dual band capable clients and denied that the Log on 2.4 GHz, so they resort to the most freer 5-GHz band. This allows you to better utilize the spectrum and increases the available bandwidth for all. Steering band to appear for older Lancom AP with two wireless modules as a firmware update.

The second innovation is the operation as a simple spectrum analyzer. In "Spectral scan" mode, a wireless module scans continuously from all radio channels and shows the time allocation as a waterfall diagram. So you find particularly heavily used channels or other radio systems, which affect the WLAN. Currently can only use exclusive Spectral scan, you "lose" so a radio module. Lancom Systems thinking but about whether that would be to implement it as a background process.

Furthermore, the option 11n Space Time Block Coding (STBC) improve connections compatible clients that are located at the edge of the radio cell. How much more throughput STBC then brings on average, you could talking to us but never count.
