Toshiba says Windows Tablet on with ARM processor


Toshiba plans to bring but no tablet with ARM processor and Windows RT, the ARM version of Windows 8 on the market, reports the industry magazine EE Times. Instead, a tablet with x86 processors and Windows 8 would appear.

In the RT-abstinence from HP and Acer - at least Microsoft called a few days ago as a launch partner only Asus, Dell, Lenovo and Samsung - especially the dissatisfaction of the manufacturer with Microsoft's own RT-tablet surface are suspected. Toshiba calls but another reason: there is simply supply problems in some components.

Which components are said Toshiba, but a connection with the faltering 28-nm chip production suspected. Toshiba wanted to use TI's OMAP processors, Asus and Lenovo during a Nvidia Tegra, Dell and Samsung are using a Qualcomm Snapdragon. Qualcomm had bought recently additional production capacity for 28-nm processors.
