Britain insists on extradition of Julian Assange
British diplomats have Ecuador handed over a note in which they refer to the Diplomatic and Consular Premises Act 1987. This law regulates the conditions under which the diplomatic immunity of a message can be canceled. This is interpreted as an indication of Wikileaks, that the message is to be raided to arrest Julian Assange.
In a short press Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino announced that Ecuador has received a corresponding note, which he regarded as an outrageous affront. Ecuador is sovereign, not a colony of any imperial power, in all clarity back the British threat. Patino announced that the decision on the political asylum for Julian Assange on Thursday at 7:00 clock (local time Quito, 14 clock EST) will be announced.
Before the Ecuadorian Embassy, the British riot police (riot police) has taken a stand and built a fence, behind which are two dozen protesters gathered.
Wikileaks founder and conductor Assange is suspected of having molested two women in Sweden and sexually violated in one case and is to be extradited to Sweden for questioning, an indictment is not so far. Assange tried for over a year, to prevent his extradition to the Scandinavian country. The chain of command in Britain he had been exhausted without success, and he took refuge in the Embassy of Ecuador in London and asked for political asylum
