E-mail disorder in Alice largely corrected
Last night succeeded Telefónica's e-mail server of its Alice customers gradual return to operation. Between last Wednesday and Sunday, the e-mail servers were unreachable. Neither the delivery of mail from other servers still call or sending customers were possible. Since the failure persisted for several days, many einliefernde e-mail servers have acknowledged the undeliverable mail with an error message to the sender and set the extradition. The affected customers are therefore may not receive some emails. Mails that were received prior to the failure, are not affected.
According to the company, the E-mail system is redundant. Yet it has come through the chain of unfortunate events in a failure of the registration server. Unable to retrieve and send e-mail with IMAP, POP3 and SMTP as well as via the web frontend again be possible. Exchange access will be restored in the course of the week. Not currently available are also user, password and address management.
The e-mail system by Alice is operated by Telecom Italia as a managed service. Whether they are a complex and developed system, said a company representative. Once the system is back, Telefónica wants to clarify the exact reasons for the failure, currently have further troubleshooting priority.
