Sandboxing rule MplayerX leaves Mac App Store


The open-source multimedia player MplayerX will leave the Mac App Store. The announced the main developer and told to meet Apple's sandboxing requirement the player software would have to lose a lot of features, which MplayerX would degenerate into a lame QuickTime X alternative - that will be the designer, have debated three months with Apple not accept.

In the recently published and available on the project website version 1.0.16 the developer has implemented an additional mechanism to facilitate the automatic updating of the open-source software which is based on the code of FFmpeg and MPlayer. He also hopes to soon be able to bring a version 1.0.15 in the Mac App Store, but it will offer limited functionality and the final version will be published there.
