BT is testing broadband network with 10 Gb / s

Together with the in Threemilestone, Cornwall, UK-based company is testing Arcol British Telecommunications (BT) is a 10 Gb / s high-speed network connections over fiber. It is a method of using the BT XGPON (tens of gigabits on a Passive Optical Network) system. As it uses the same transmission fiber, which is also used Arcols normal, 330 Mbit / s is a fast Internet connection. Which suggests that BT uses an optical wavelength division multiplexing (wavelength division multiplex, short WDM).

BT currently has much TestPartner not it, for the fast line reaches only to the exchange in approximately 4 km from Truro, then it goes with a lower pace. Also the computers and networks would anyway not be able to utilize the full line. But the test shows that the optical lines, the BT has postponed the project Superfast Cornwall, are quite capable of transmitting 10 Gb / s - at least over short distances. BT would merely replace the optical and electronic components on both ends.
