Google Chrome for OS X sandbox

Google Chrome disables the Flash plug-in with the current stable release 23 on OS X in a sandbox, as the developers report on her blog. To this end, Google has the older Netscape Plugin API (NPAPI) exchanged for the proprietary Pepper Plugin API (PPAPI). Unlike using the Netscape API can run on the Pepper-interface plug-ins in an isolated sandbox.

The Apple operating system was the latest desktop platform, the Chrome did not have a sandbox for Flash Player. In the Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS versions of the browser, Google had incorporated this technique some time ago.

The Chrome developer Scott Hess reported that Google has been working since 2010 in collaboration with Adobe on the protection of Flash Player for Chrome. The sandbox is a very secured area to protect the operating system from the exploitation of security holes.
