Microsoft executives: Chinese market is big challenge

Microsoft China is like for the whole IT industry is one of the largest and most promising growth markets. The Chinese market is also in many ways a great challenge, Microsoft executives Ralph Haupter said in an interview with dpa. Since April, the former head of Microsoft Germany is responsible for the business in the Middle Kingdom. The sheer size of the country, with its extreme differences is impressive. China was dominated by a mixture of departure, consumption and traditional heritage.

How important is the rapidly developing market, Microsoft is also documented for the launch of Windows 8, the launch before New York came into the world's first Chinese port city of Shanghai in the trade. With Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 smartphone in China, Microsoft is now well placed Haupter said. "We have also aroused great curiosity in China." Among the partners for smartphones with Windows Phone 8, Microsoft has next to Nokia, HTC and Samsung also the first time a Chinese partner with Huawei on board.

One focus in China is for the Microsoft software development. Of the approximately 5000 employees, there are only 3,500 work in research and development, says Haupter. "The software development also reflects the special situation in the country." Partnerships are particularly important for many companies. "For a number of activities such as the online business or a company with banks in China requires special licenses, which are usually issued by the government," said Haupter.

"The main interest was focused on new equipment in China is impressive - and on a completely different level than in Europe," said Haupter. For the launch of the tablet surface there were several hundred meters long lines in Beijing. Any announcement or presentation will equal watched by thousands interested.

The most popular gadget among customers in China were partially but totally different than in the western world. The tastes of users fall quite different. "While we in Europe rather prefer a discreet and elegant smartphone are more devices in China with rubber cover and rabbit ears all the rage," said Haupter.
