Dell Completes Quest acquisition
Computer manufacturer Dell has announced the completion of the acquisition of the software manufacturer Quest known. The announcement came three days after the Quest shareholders approved the purchase. Dell had been the beginning of July 2012 around 2.4 billion U.S. dollars (1.9 billion euros) on the table, and thus after a long bidding race outdone the competition, including the investment firm Insight Venture Partners.
Quest makes administration tools especially. These include various tools for databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 and Sybase, as well as performance management and Windows Server. With the acquisition, Dell wants to position in a large and fast-growing sector of the software industry. The Quest portfolio should occupy a central position within Dell founded only this year Software Group.
According to the computer manufacturer Quest bring more than 100,000 customers, 5000 partners, 1500 sales and marketing employees sowie1300 software developers in the new Dell Software Group.
