Julian Assange fails in suit against film
The Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has failed in his appeal against a documentary off the British media regulator Ofcom in all respects. According to Assange, the film Wikileaks: Secrets and Lies ehrverletztend, unilaterally reduced illegal and also violates his privacy. Ofcom rejected the claim back on all points.
In its long court's opinion the Ofcom sets with all charges apart Assange. Repeatedly emphasizes that it is part of the artistic freedom of the filmmaker to bring only excerpts from a longer interview, which was conducted with Assange. Also attesting to the filmmakers, sufficient to allow the views of opponents as supporters of Wikileaks to speak.
The Assange vehemently disputed properties, stating that informants it deserved to die, if they showed up with their own names in Wikileaks documents, had been protected by several interviewees. The documentary, which contains photographs of Assange dancing in an Icelandic nightclub did not bother with these shots the privacy of the Wikileaks founder. The actual filmmakers, with the consent of Assange recorded the expansive style of dance, had sold the material to several TV stations and thus legitimized as advertisement material. In addition, a nightclub was not really private place.
The defeat to Wikileaks initially responded with a statement in which the Ofcom head Ed Richards has personally attacked as a PR puppet government. Later Wikileaks published all the documents to the application, including a transcript of the complete interview with Assange, which had been "censored" in the opinion of Wikileaks.
The documentary "WikiLeaks: Secrets and Lies" was broadcast yesterday, Tuesday by the TV station 3sat. It is uncertain whether the library has or is taken over by other broadcasters. In Britain, the film was broadcast on Channel 4, he also ran on the popular media festival South by Southwest. According to a report in the Guardian Assange should have tried to put pressure on the organizers of the festival.
Julian Assange is currently a member of the Embassy of Ecuador in London. He shall enjoy political asylum. UK wants to extradite Assange after three failed lawsuits against his extradition to Sweden, where a survey and a possible method for alleged sexual harassment and coercion is waiting for him. Ecuador calls for final negotiations of the UK such as Sweden guarantees that Assange's human rights are respected and this will not be extradited to the United States.
Britain insists on extradition of Julian Assange
British diplomats have Ecuador handed over a note in which they refer to the Diplomatic and Consular Premises Act 1987. This law regulates the conditions under which the diplomatic immunity of a message can be canceled. This is interpreted as an indication of Wikileaks, that the message is to be raided to arrest Julian Assange.
In a short press Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino announced that Ecuador has received a corresponding note, which he regarded as an outrageous affront. Ecuador is sovereign, not a colony of any imperial power, in all clarity back the British threat. Patino announced that the decision on the political asylum for Julian Assange on Thursday at 7:00 clock (local time Quito, 14 clock EST) will be announced.
Before the Ecuadorian Embassy, the British riot police (riot police) has taken a stand and built a fence, behind which are two dozen protesters gathered.
Wikileaks founder and conductor Assange is suspected of having molested two women in Sweden and sexually violated in one case and is to be extradited to Sweden for questioning, an indictment is not so far. Assange tried for over a year, to prevent his extradition to the Scandinavian country. The chain of command in Britain he had been exhausted without success, and he took refuge in the Embassy of Ecuador in London and asked for political asylum
Wikileaks to release Trapwire under DDoS attack
For several days, can hardly call the Wikileaks website yet. The reason is a massive DDoS attack (Distributed Denial of Service). What it means to achieve the attacks, a rate of 10 Gb / s Getting a group calling itself "AntiLeaks" has already taken responsibility for the attack and justified by concern about the recent developments in the trial of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange asylum in Ecuador.
The interesting thing is that the attacks started at the time, wanted to publish a new e-mails from the Wikileaks security company Stratfor Global Intelligence, which refer to a secret surveillance network called "Trapwire" goes. Trapwire should therefore collect image data from surveillance cameras, which are distributed throughout the United States to process the images with the aid of facial and behavioral recognition and tracking down the suspects to give alarm. This year's National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) (PDF) authorized the armed forces, U.S. citizens and foreigners without a court order to bare (computer) suspicion set time limit.
Creators and operators of Trapwire supposed to be private companies for security technology Abraxas, in which not only the management of ex-CIA operatives. So far, there was little information about the activities of this company. Only the hacker attack by Anonymous at Stratfor - the name stands for "Strategic Forecasting" (Strategic Forecasts) - promoted the e-mails were discovered with the explosive content.
The state-owned English-language Russia Today website informed in detail about the monitoring network and has initiated, despite the less than independent reporting, network-wide discussion. The evidence is certainly grist for the mill of conspiracy theorists and other critical minds.
